Our Process
Upon submission of your service request for evaluation of your jewelry, in addition to the required contact information, you are asked for the description of your jewelry and the estimated insurance value of the sum of all jewelry that you are submitting for evaluation. When submitting your request, it is the responsibility of the customer to be as detailed and accurate as possible in regard to all information requested on the submission form, including your description and estimated value of all jewelry to be submitted. Upon submission of your jewelry, JEC will send you all documents necessary to submit your jewelry for evaluation and sale, including pre-paid UPS shipping and return labels with added insurance from UPS Capital as specified by the estimated value during your original submission. Shipping labels for the customer's jewelry submissions are valid for 10 days prior to them automatically being cancelled if unused. If the shipping label expires, the customer must submit a request for new shipping labels and may be required to resubmit a new evaluation request.
When packaging your jewelry for submission, the customer is responsible for protecting all items, regardless of how fragile or sturdy they may be, using appropriate padding, packaging, double-packaging, and sealing methods to prevent any damage that could occur to your jewelry during shipping. To help ensure your jewelry's safety, it is recommended that the customer not externally label your packaging with any indication of its contents. Upon receipt of your package by JEC and/or any JEC affiliates, your package and all contents thereof will be handled by certified professionals in a high security, video monitored environment and stored within the safety of the most advanced and secure commercial-grade UL-TL rated vaults until completion of evaluation and/or purchase process. JEC and all of our affiliates are fully licensed, bonded, and insured, exceeding all requirements of the International Jewelry Broker Association and Jewelry Dealers of America to allow our customers the peace of mind they deserve and expect from our staff and affiliates.
The customer understands and agrees that assessments may be conducted through a reputable independent service for evaluation of submitted jewelry. JEC has selected the Gemological Grading Services (GGS) as the preferred evaluation assessor for all items submitted for evaluation. GGS is considered to be one of the most accurate and reliable providers of technical property assessments for precious jewelry and is revered as one of the most esteemed jewelry evaluation and certificate companies in the industry. All jewelry you wish to sell & send for evaluation is directly submitted for GGS certification and assessment to provide JEC and the customer accurate data to make a purchase offer. Upon completion of your jewelry's independent evaluation, the customer & JEC will be provided with the specifications of the assessment. Based on this assessment, JEC agrees to make the customer an offer for the purchase of the items submitted.
The customer understands and agrees that JEC is not obligated to purchase any/all of your items and likewise, the customer is not obligated to sell your jewelry to JEC. If the customer does not agree with the evaluation and/or purchase offer for your submitted jewelry, you have the right to refuse the offer. (i) If the customer accepts JEC's purchase offer, JEC will pay the customer as per the terms of our purchase offer agreement. The customer may be required to provide specific payment instructions in order for JEC to submit payment via bank wire, money transfer, ACH, check, or PayPal. If the customer is local to any of JEC's corporate or regional locations, they are welcome to come visit one of our locations in person and present JEC's written offer along with a valid state identification to receive their payment in cash! (ii) If the customer refuses JEC's purchase offer, their jewelry will be re-packaged and shipped to the originating address via UPS and insured through UPS Capital as specified during your original submission. In the rare occasion that the customer wishes to accept ONLY a portion of JEC's purchase offer (on multiple jewelry items), a written addendum may be processed to divide the customer's original jewelry submission into two separate submissions, with one being treated as (i) accepted, and the other as (ii) rejected, with each separated submission being handled as aforementioned in regard to acceptance or rejection of JEC's purchase proposal. All agreements between the customer and JEC to purchase jewelry from the customer are considered as binding contracts per the terms herein. The customer understands that JEC purchases jewelry as a broker to other wholesalers, retailers, and individual customers, and that all sales of any jewelry to JEC are final upon payment.
